Altria Group Donates $100,000 to the Moton Museum

Altria Group, parent company of Philip Morris USA, John Middleton and Philip Morris Capital Corporation, delivered a $100,000 check to the Robert Russa Moton Museum in support of the successful completion of Moton 2011.

 “Altria Group is pleased to support the Robert Russa Moton Museum in Farmville, as it helps tell a pivotal point in Virginia’s and the nation’s Civil Rights story,” said Charlie Agee, Director of Corporate Contributions, Altria Client Services.

“Like the Civil Rights Memorial at Virginia’s Capitol Square, the Moton Museum will help foster greater understanding with future generations about the Civil Rights period in our nation’s history and Virginia’s role in it,” he added.

In addition to supporting the Moton Museum’s development, those attending spoke in Collectively about the donation’s positive effect on economic development and tourism.

"Altria's generous donation is another strong signal of corporate America's support of economic development in Southside Virginia specifically relating to tourism,” said Lacy Ward, Director, Moton Museum.  “This donation will further enable Moton’s promotion of the Commonwealth’s Civil Rights history through education as our tourism base increases."
